The alien species have a clearer mind to interact better with the nature, therefore they are able to use the resources far more naturally and effectively then human beings. Human no longer be able to communicate with mother nature through direct sensing. They rely too much on logical analysis thinking, making their mind no longer stay current with the objects surrounding them. They get to know the objects through logical analysis but not based on sense of feeling.
Through logical/scientific analysis, human preventing themselves from seeing things at its entirety, and therefore overlook many unwanted consequences caused by their creation. For example, when creating a motor vehicle, they just focusing on the results that they wanted to achieve, forgetting about the impact that may caused by unnatural use of earth resources, such as bringing something that suppose to stay underground to the surface of the earth. They digged something deep inside the earth out from the ground, which may eventually changing the layering structure of the earth, making it losing its stability.
When human says "knowledge can widen their sight", the word "widen" implies "limit" no matter how wide it is. Due to this, human beings are always have a limited view of the entire universe and overlook of some important factors when solving their day-to-day problems.
